Pavilion Restoration Project Nominated for Prestigious Trades Award

The historic pavilion at Tarlair, once a vibrant outdoor pool venue, has secured a nomination for the prestigious Trades Awards 2025. This accolade highlights the remarkable efforts of V G Willox in the Home/Building Improvement category, celebrating their successful renovation of the Macduff pavilion.

Excitement is palpable in northern Scotland as the finalists for the annual Trades Awards have been announced. Now in its 13th year, this event, organised by Mearns & Gill, a marketing and communications agency based in Aberdeen, has become a cornerstone of the construction industry calendar. It unites approximately 400 professionals, showcasing exceptional talent and innovation that drive the sector forward.

Mike Wilson, managing director of Mearns & Gill, expressed enthusiasm for this year’s nominees, stating, “The Trades Awards have always been about recognising the people and businesses that make our industry thrive, and 2025 is no exception.” He noted the outstanding quality of entries, which reflect a commitment to pushing boundaries and embracing sustainability in construction.

The 2025 Trades Awards continue to receive strong support from main sponsor W M Donald and a variety of new partners focused on promoting excellence within the industry. This year, the judging panel faced a challenging task due to a record number of first-time entrants, highlighting the strength of the construction community in the region.

Among the standout categories is the Rising Star award, sponsored by Joe Boyle Consulting, which identifies promising newcomers who have demonstrated exceptional performance in the construction field. Another new addition is the Community Engagement Award, sponsored by STV, recognising projects that have positively impacted local communities through social initiatives.

The highly anticipated Construction Project of the Year award will honour projects that exemplify excellence in design, execution, and sustainability. The winners will be announced at a black-tie ceremony on November 7, 2025, hosted by Chris Harvey from STV at the Ardoe House Hotel and Spa. The event will also feature fundraising efforts for Somebody Cares, a local charity providing essential support to individuals facing hardship.
