Babyshambles to Reunite for 20th Anniversary Tour of Down In Albion
Babyshambles is set to reunite to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their album Down In Albion, with a tour scheduled across multiple cities in the United Kingdom. The band, formed by frontman Pete Doherty, emerged during a hiatus from his other well-known group, The Libertines. Doherty has expressed enthusiasm for the reunion, stating, “It’s unfinished business and everywhere I go I get ‘what’s happening with the ‘shambles.’ It’s a no-brainer for me, a real desire to play some of them old tunes and have a little shindig.”
The decision to tour comes shortly after the announcement of the death of the band’s former lead guitarist, Patrick Walden, which has motivated the remaining members to seize the moment. Bass guitarist Drew McConnell remarked, “The death of Patrick made us determined that we have to tour now.” This sentiment reflects a commitment to honor Walden’s legacy while rekindling the band’s connection with fans.
Tour Details and Ticket Information
The tour will cover prominent locations including Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Glasgow, Leeds, Nottingham, Norwich, Plymouth, and the iconic Brixton Academy in London. Each venue promises to deliver a nostalgic experience as the band performs tracks from their debut album, which was released in 2005 and featured popular hits like “F*** Forever.”
Tickets for the live shows are set to go on sale on September 5, with a pre-sale available on September 3. Fans are encouraged to secure their tickets early, as interest in the reunion is expected to be high, particularly given the band’s status in the UK music scene.
The reunion and tour not only represent a significant milestone for Babyshambles but also serve as a poignant reminder of the band’s impact on the music industry and their loyal fan base. As the tour date approaches, excitement is building, allowing fans to relive the energy and spirit of Babyshambles live in concert.
