Gilmore Girls Stars Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel Reunite at Emmys
Fans of the beloved series Gilmore Girls were thrilled as stars Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel reunited at the Emmys to celebrate the show’s 25th anniversary. The actors, who portrayed the iconic mother-daughter duo Lorelai and Rory Gilmore, took to the stage in front of a specially constructed set resembling their fictional home. Their appearance was met with excitement from fans, both in the audience and on social media.
As they presented the award for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series, Graham reflected on the show’s lasting impact. “Twenty-five years ago, a show called Gilmore Girls premiered, and apparently took the season of fall hostage,” she said, highlighting the series’ popularity among viewers who revisit it each September. The show originally aired from 2000 to 2007, chronicling the lives of Rory (Bledel) and her single mother (Graham) as they navigate the complexities of relationships, academic challenges, and family dynamics.
Despite its dedicated fanbase, Bledel noted the struggles faced during production. “In spite of our autumnal dominance, Gilmore Girls was actually a very small show,” she remarked, adding, “We looked hungry.” This candid observation resonated with audience members, who took to social media to express their joy over the reunion. One fan described it as “the best part of the night,” igniting speculation about the potential for another revival series.
The original series was filmed at Warner Bros Studios in Burbank, California, set in the fictional town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut. Currently, the series is available for streaming on Netflix. Despite its ongoing appeal, Graham revealed that the cast does not receive residuals from the streaming service. “We have definitely reached more people than we were reaching on The WB,” she shared in a prior interview with Jimmy Kimmel. “But I’ve been paid in love and appreciation.”
Graham and Bledel previously reprised their roles in the limited revival series titled Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, which debuted in 2016. As part of the 25th anniversary celebration, a documentary named Searching for Stars Hollow is set to premiere later this year. This one-off documentary will delve into the making of the series and feature reflections from cast members including Jared Padalecki, Keiko Agena, and Kelly Bishop.
At Warner Bros Studios, many props from the show, including the town center gazebo and Suki’s house, remain intact as tourist attractions. With the enduring charm of Gilmore Girls and the heartfelt reunion of its stars, the series continues to hold a special place in the hearts of fans around the world.
