Belfast’s Culture Night Returns with Over 100 Events on September 19
Belfast’s vibrant cultural scene is set to return with the much-anticipated Culture Night on September 19, 2025, after a five-year hiatus. This event promises to be a celebration of local creativity, featuring more than 100 events across 21 venues throughout the city. A detailed map has been released to help attendees navigate the diverse offerings, ensuring that everyone can find something to enjoy.
The festivities will kick off at 16:00 and continue until 22:00, making it a family-friendly occasion suitable for all ages. Attendees can look forward to live performances from musicians and various performers, alongside interactive art installations that will enliven the city streets.
Dedicated Hubs and Diverse Offerings
Two major venues, 2 Royal Avenue and The MAC, will serve as dedicated Culture Night Hubs, providing quiet spaces for those needing a break from the festivities. The last full Culture Night in 2019 attracted around 100,000 people to the Cathedral Quarter, highlighting the event’s significance in Belfast’s cultural calendar. The event was scaled back in 2021 due to COVID-19 restrictions and subsequently paused in 2022 for a comprehensive reassessment. Funding issues arose in 2023 when the Department for Communities withdrew its support.
This year, the event is backed by Belfast City Council, with additional contributions from the Linen Quarter and Cathedral Quarter Business Improvement Districts (BIDs). As part of the celebrations, residents and visitors will experience a range of free pop-up activities, ensuring a lively atmosphere throughout the city.
Exciting Highlights and Activities
Culture Night will feature a wide array of activities, including unique performances such as Titanic wrestling at Grand Central Station, and an impressive fire and light show called Firepoise in CS Lewis Square. Other highlights include the Oíche Chultúir rooftop concert at An Chultúrlann, a family roller disco at Shaftesbury Recreation Centre, and live oil painting of commuters at York Street Station.
For those interested in the full programme of events, the official Culture Night website provides comprehensive details. Attendees are encouraged to stay informed about any changes or updates through the event’s social media channels, including Facebook (@culturenightbel) and Instagram (@culturenightbelfast).
Belfast Live will also be actively covering the event on TikTok, offering food reviews, concert announcements, and vox pops to engage the community and provide essential information. As excitement builds for this cultural revival, the team is eager to share the unique aspects of Belfast life with their growing audience.
Culture Night Belfast promises to be an unforgettable evening, showcasing the city’s rich artistic heritage and community spirit. With a diverse range of events and activities planned, it is set to reaffirm Belfast’s position as a cultural hub in the region.
