Kevin Clifton Leads Odds to Replace Craig Revel Horwood on Strictly
Kevin Clifton has emerged as the frontrunner to replace Craig Revel Horwood on the popular television show Strictly Come Dancing, according to the online bookmaker Betway. This speculation follows Horwood’s recent remarks on retirement, although he has not confirmed any immediate plans to leave the judging panel. With over two decades of experience, Horwood’s departure would undoubtedly create a significant vacancy.
Betway has placed Clifton’s odds at 4/1 to take over should Horwood step down. While the judge has expressed a desire to retire at the age of 60, he has also stated that he enjoys his role and the excitement it brings each year. In a recent interview, Horwood reflected on his time with the show, saying, “I love what I do. It keeps me on my toes, darlings!”
Other former professionals are also in the running for the position, including Erin Boag and AJ Pritchard, both listed at 10/1. Betway spokesperson Mike Reading noted that Clifton’s experience, particularly as the winner of the glitterball trophy, makes him a strong candidate. He added that Clifton’s former partner, Stacey Dooley, is also a contender at 9/1, potentially creating an intriguing competition between the two.
Reading mentioned that other names in the mix include Ashley Banjo at 5/1 and Oti Mabuse at 7/1, both of whom are currently involved in Dancing on Ice. Meanwhile, Rylan Clark and Cynthia Ervio are seen as long shots at 25/1 due to their busy schedules.
The anticipation around Horwood’s potential exit has ignited conversations among fans about who might fill the void. He has been a key figure on the show, known for his sharp critiques and engaging personality.
Strictly Come Dancing continues to air on Saturdays at 18:20 on BBC One, captivating audiences with its blend of dance and entertainment. As speculation mounts, viewers will be watching closely to see how the judging panel evolves in the future.
