Lidl Launches £7.99 Sandals, Undercutting M&S’s £29.50 Offer
Lidl is set to launch a budget-friendly alternative to a popular pair of sandals from Marks & Spencer, offering a striking £7.99 option compared to M&S’s £29.50 price tag. The new Esmara Ladies’ Brown Sandals will be available in-store starting July 27, 2023, providing shoppers with an affordable option for summer footwear.
The sandals, designed for both style and comfort, feature a moulded footbed and lightweight EVA soles, making them suitable for all-day wear. Crafted from leather sourced from LWG-certified tanneries, these sandals are designed to be both durable and stylish. The adjustable buckle straps ensure a comfortable fit, accommodating women’s sizes from four to 7.5.
In comparison, Marks & Spencer’s Suede Buckle Footbed Mules are priced at £29.50 and are available in black and khaki. Described as “effortlessly stylish” by the retailer, these mules also feature a slip-on design and practical low heels, aimed at providing all-day comfort. M&S customers have rated these shoes an average of 4.6 out of five stars, with many confirming that the sandals fit true to size.
The launch of Lidl’s sandals comes at a time when consumers are increasingly seeking value for money, especially during the summer holiday season. Fashion observers note that shoppers are drawn to options that blend quality and affordability, making Lidl’s offering particularly appealing.
As summer approaches, trends in footwear are evolving, with styles that balance function and fashion taking the spotlight. The introduction of these sandals underscores a growing demand for stylish yet affordable summer essentials. With the price difference of £21.51 between the two options, many shoppers may find Lidl’s Esmara sandals an attractive choice for their holiday wardrobes.
In addition to the new sandals, various fashion trends are emerging for 2025, including the resurgence of retro styles and vibrant colors. From East/West bags to pale powder pink shades, these trends are poised to influence high street offerings.
