The Skull Bar in the Royal Star Arcade of Maidstone has shut its doors for the second time, disappointing loyal patrons who regarded it as a cherished dining spot. Customers took to social media to express their sorrow over the closure, with many describing the establishment as a “really special place” that offered “one of the best burgers” in town. The Skull Bar was notable for its transformation from a fully vegan restaurant, originally named The Rainbow Skull Grill, which operated on London Road before closing in December 2022 due to rising energy and food costs.

After a brief hiatus, the establishment rebranded as The Skull Bar and introduced a menu featuring meat dishes, alongside craft beer, rum selections, cocktails, and simple offerings like burgers and chicken wings. The team behind The Skull Bar shared their sentiments on Facebook, stating: “As many of you are aware, we are now closed. We again would love to thank you for all your customer support over the years. We had the best team. Our little skull family. R.I.P team skull.”
