Scotland’s Future Entrepreneurs Split £60,000 Prize at Dundee Event
The University of Dundee has crowned its latest batch of entrepreneurs during the annual Venture 2026 competition, awarding eight innovative individuals a share of a substantial £60,000 prize pot. This year’s event, which concluded on March 15, 2024, recognized the entrepreneurial spirit among students, staff, and graduates, showcasing ideas that tackle challenges across various sectors, including healthcare, hospitality, and legal services.
The competition culminated in a live final featuring a panel of judges, potential investors, and an engaged audience. Participants had the opportunity to pitch their business concepts, competing intensely for seed funding provided by external sponsors. This year, 60 members of the university community entered the competition across eight categories, displaying a remarkable level of creativity and ambition.
Chris Smyth, the university’s head of enterprise, expressed pride in the event’s evolution over the past decade. “This has been the tenth year of Venture, and each year we have seen the bar raised,” he stated. Smyth commended the finalists for their diversity and dynamism, noting the challenging decisions faced by the judges. “All the finalists should be incredibly proud to have made it to this stage of the competition,” he added, encouraging winners to continue refining their ideas.
