The Bowery, a popular pub located on Princes Avenue in Hull, has officially reopened following a significant transformation. The pub has undergone a complete makeover, with an investment of over £339,000, as part of Marston’s new sports concept, Grandstand. This revitalization aims to create an atmosphere that rivals that of a sports stadium, featuring state-of-the-art technology and a revamped menu.

Community Engagement and New Features

On its opening day, community hero Mike Bromby MBE, head coach at St John’s Boxing Academy, pulled the first pint to commemorate the occasion. The Bowery intends to build on its strong ties with local sports teams and community groups, continuing its fundraising initiatives in collaboration with Bromby.

Leah Fisher, the pub partner, expressed enthusiasm about welcoming patrons back, stating, “We’ve loved welcoming the community back with open arms. The response has been fantastic to our food and drink offers, as well as the new technology to watch all kinds of sports.” She highlighted the pub’s vibrant atmosphere, noting the importance of community spirit.

The renovation has incorporated several modern features, including a new 3m x 1.68m screen and advanced sound systems to enhance the viewing experience. Flexible tiered seating has been added to ensure that every guest has a great view of the screen. An outdoor area with additional TV screens allows patrons to enjoy games in a fresh air setting.

Innovative Ordering and Local Involvement

One of the standout features is the introduction of Marston’s “Order & Pay” app, enabling customers to order from their tables and avoid missing any action. The Bowery also aims to celebrate local sports history by inviting patrons to donate photographs and memorabilia to decorate the walls.

The decision to include The Bowery in the Grandstand initiative stems from its active participation with various local sports teams, community organizations, and charities. The refurbishment not only enhances the venue’s appeal but also aims to create an inviting space for sports fans from Hull and beyond.

The Bowery’s transformation marks a significant step in redefining the local pub experience, positioning it as a hub for sports enthusiasts in the community. As the pub continues to evolve, it remains committed to fostering a sense of community and celebrating local achievements.
