Golden Bachelor Mel Owens and Peg Munson Spark Engagement Rumors
Mel Owens, the star of the reality series The Golden Bachelor, was spotted with his chosen partner, Peg Munson, as they departed from Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas on February 4, 2026. The couple displayed affection while preparing for their trip to San Francisco, where they plan to attend the Super Bowl and work with ESPN.
The 67-year-old former NFL player, now a sports lawyer, announced their plans on Instagram, stating, “We’ll be there for a week on media row and do some work there for ESPN. And Peg got her things lined up as well – a surprise that’s coming. And I’ll let her announce that later.”
Hints of Engagement
Owens’ comments have led to speculation regarding a possible engagement with Munson, 62, a former firefighter turned realtor. During the finale of the show’s second season on November 12, 2025, he presented her with a promise ring, which has fueled rumors of a deeper commitment.
In a recent interview on the She’s All Bach podcast, Munson confirmed their discussions about marriage, saying, “Have we talked about marriage? Yeah, we have! Because guess what? We’ve dated now and we really have that special connection.” She emphasized that they are taking their time, wanting to avoid becoming just another statistic from the Bachelor franchise, which has struggled with lasting relationships.
Munson expressed her desire for a genuine connection, noting, “I really want to find my guy, and I really want to have that connection and really love somebody. I mean, that’s where my heart’s desire is at.” She is a single mother to an adult daughter, Dakota, while Owens shares two sons from his previous marriage.
Controversy and Clarifications
Earlier in June 2025, Owens faced criticism after stating in a podcast interview that he preferred dating women between the ages of 45 and 60, explicitly ruling out those over 60. He later clarified his remarks, explaining that his comments were based on his dating experiences from years prior and that he regretted any offense caused.
Despite the backlash, Munson has expressed her commitment to remaining true to herself throughout this experience. She stated, “I don’t want to say, ‘Yes, oh, we’re going to get married, engaged, and then two months later, you know, they’re broke up.’ That’s not what I went into this experience for.”
As the couple prepares for their upcoming Super Bowl trip, fans eagerly await further announcements regarding their relationship status. With a commitment to authenticity and connection, both Owens and Munson seem focused on building a meaningful partnership, defying the odds that have plagued many couples from the franchise.
In a landscape where only a handful of couples from the show’s history have successfully maintained their relationships, the anticipation surrounding Owens and Munson’s journey continues to grow. The couple’s decision to prioritize their bond over public expectations may resonate with many viewers looking for a genuine love story.
