MTV Stars Helen Briggs and Chet Johnson Announce Engagement
Helen Briggs and Chet Johnson, stars of MTV’s “Ex On The Beach,” have announced their engagement just weeks before their wedding, following a brief split and cheating allegations. The couple revealed their exciting news on August 4, 2025, coinciding with their ten-year anniversary together.
In a heartfelt social media post to her 700,000 Instagram followers, Briggs, 29, shared the moment she proposed to Johnson. “Today is our 10 year anniversary… & the beginning of something even more beautiful,” she wrote. “In a couple of weeks we are saying ‘I do’. We can’t wait for this next chapter.”
The couple’s relationship has had its ups and downs. They first appeared on-screen together in 2016, and their journey has included the birth of four children, the latest being a daughter named Honey, born on June 4, 2023. Their relationship faced significant challenges last year when Briggs publicly announced their split, citing cheating allegations against Johnson.
From Turmoil to Triumph
In the aftermath of the split, Briggs accused Johnson of infidelity, claiming she had seen “evidence” that he had cheated. This announcement came just days before the birth of their youngest child. Despite the turmoil, the couple reconciled later in 2023. During an Instagram Q&A, Briggs clarified that the allegations were unfounded and expressed regret for her hasty decision to end their relationship. “Chet always denied the allegation and later down the line cleared his name,” she stated.
The couple’s engagement marks a new beginning, and they have opted for a modest wedding ceremony. In a candid discussion, they revealed they did not wish to spend an extravagant £60,000 on a “fairytale” wedding. Instead, they plan to celebrate with a small gathering of close family and friends, featuring a roast dinner, followed by a larger party later in the evening.
Chet Johnson recounted the casual nature of the proposal, explaining, “I was at the gym, and I get this phone call and she’s like, ‘do you want to get married?'” Briggs had booked their wedding at the registry office just a day before giving birth to Honey.
Looking Ahead
Briggs and Johnson’s journey reflects their commitment to each other and their family. Briggs expressed a desire for all their children to be present at their wedding, hinting at the possibility of a larger celebration in the future. “In ten years we’re probably going to do it again,” Johnson remarked.
The couple’s first child, daughter Ocean, was born on November 11, 2019, after a lengthy 22-hour labor. Their son, Elvis, followed on December 27, 2020, and their daughter, Peach, was born in December 2022. The family continues to grow as they navigate the challenges of parenthood and public life.
Fans have shown overwhelming support for the couple, expressing joy and encouragement on social media. Comments flooded in, with one fan proclaiming, “Congrats I’m so happy for yous,” while another praised their decision to marry for their own happiness rather than societal expectations.
As their wedding approaches, it is clear that Helen Briggs and Chet Johnson are ready to embrace this next chapter together, with resilience and love at the forefront.
