New Rhythm and Rays Festival to Launch Near Glastonbury in 2026
A new music festival, the Rhythm and Rays Festival, is set to take place on August 22, 2026, just five miles from the iconic Worthy Farm in Glastonbury, England. This event aims to fill the void left by the absence of the Glastonbury Festival during its fallow year, a time designated for soil recovery and renewal.
Festival founder and headliner, James Johnson, who performs under the stage name Dynamic, expressed his excitement about the inaugural event. “This launch year is all about setting the tone for something special,” he said. The festival will be held at the Royal Bath and West Showground, an accessible location that promises to offer a unique experience for festival-goers.
The line-up includes a range of rising stars from various musical genres, featuring acts such as Magic Money Mike, Rhubarb Bridge, Save Our Ships, Stone Cold Sweethearts, and Exodus. Johnson acknowledged that while Rhythm and Rays cannot compete with the scale of Glastonbury, it aims to provide an enjoyable alternative during the fallow year. “We really want to fill that gap,” he added.
In addition to music, the festival will showcase local food vendors to cater to attendees. Johnson is also committed to promoting mental health awareness at the event. He hopes to invite charities to set up booths, enhancing the festival’s inclusive atmosphere. With a strong presence on social media platforms like TikTok, Johnson’s music has resonated with many, underscoring his passion for fostering a supportive environment at the festival.
To address the diverse needs of attendees, Rhythm and Rays will feature sensory calm tents and mental health support areas. These spaces are designed for individuals who may feel overwhelmed, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the festival experience. Johnson’s focus on mental health and neurodiversity highlights the festival’s commitment to inclusivity and well-being for all participants.
As anticipation builds for this new festival, music lovers are encouraged to mark their calendars for a potential highlight of the summer in 2026, as Rhythm and Rays aims to create lasting memories for its attendees.
