Katie Price Faces Health Concerns, Cancels Pride Appearance
Katie Price has made headlines after revealing she is undergoing tests due to health concerns, including fears of cancer recurrence. The 47-year-old former glamour model shared her worries during an episode of The Katie Price Show podcast, marking her first public appearance since the announcement.
Looking visibly frail, Price was photographed wearing a grey vest and trousers, with a black hoodie tied around her waist. Her recent health issues prompted her to withdraw from a scheduled appearance at Portsmouth Pride, which took place just hours later.
Price has a history of health challenges, having previously battled a rare form of soft tissue cancer known as leiomyosarcoma. She described her experiences with the illness, explaining that she had to undergo multiple MRI scans for six years to confirm she was cancer-free. On the podcast, she expressed her anxiety regarding new symptoms in the same finger affected by the cancer.
“Another thing that’s really weird, you know when I had cancer years ago… a lump started coming up and I thought I had been riding and done something to my finger,” Price shared with her sister Sophie. “But anyway, cut the long story short it was leiomyosarcoma, so I had to have MRI scans and all of that for six years until I was clear.”
Recently, Price noticed persistent pain in her finger, raising concerns that the cancer could return. She stated, “This better not be my bad news… Let’s hope it’s nothing bad.” In addition to her finger issues, Price revealed that blood tests indicated a low platelet count, which could be contributing to her fatigue and weight loss.
“I’ve got really really low platelets, and I thought that was (low) iron, and it’s not,” she explained. “They [the doctors] said it can affect that and I think you might have to have a blood transfusion to get them back up again.”
As she navigates these health challenges, Price has emphasized the importance of regular medical screenings. The NHS highlights that early detection can significantly improve cancer treatment outcomes. In England, there are three national screening programs: cervical screening, breast screening, and bowel screening, all aimed at identifying potential health issues before they escalate.
The announcement of her health concerns coincided with her withdrawal from Portsmouth Pride, an event she had been expected to attend. In a brief video posted on her Instagram, Price apologized for the last-minute cancellation, stating, “I’ll be back next year.” However, the organizers of MK Pride expressed disappointment in a statement regarding her absence.
Beyond her health struggles, Price is set to embark on a joint tour with her close friend, Kerry Katona. She recently teased her upcoming single, indicating that she remains committed to her entertainment career even amid personal challenges.
As Katie Price continues to address her health issues, her fans and the public await further updates on her condition and future endeavors.
