Lidl Recalls Red Cabbage Product Over Milk Allergy Risk

Lidl has issued a recall for its Deluxe Red Cabbage with Apple, Dried Cranberries & Spices due to a health risk associated with undisclosed milk content. Customers with milk allergies or intolerances are advised not to consume the product, which comes in a 480g pack size. All batches with any Use By date codes are affected and should be returned to the nearest Lidl store for a full refund.

In its recall notice, Lidl stated, “Lidl GB is recalling the above-mentioned product due to milk not being in bold within the back of pack ingredients. This may be a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to milk.” The retailer also expressed regret for any inconvenience caused and emphasized that no other Deluxe products are affected by this recall.

The Food Standards Agency has supported the recall, informing allergy support organizations to notify their members. Customers who have purchased the product can return it for a refund, with Lidl providing further assistance through its Customer Care service at [email protected] or by calling 0203 966 5566.

This warning coincides with another significant recall from Nestlé, which has taken precautionary measures to recall several batches of SMA Infant Formula and Follow-On Formula. The recall is due to the possible presence of cereulide, a toxin that can lead to symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and abdominal cramps. Although no illnesses have been reported, families are urged not to feed these products to their babies.

Nestlé’s notice reaffirmed their commitment to safety, stating, “The safety and wellbeing of babies is our absolute priority.” Affected customers are encouraged to destroy the product and consult healthcare professionals for alternative feeding options.
