Liverpool Family Faces Heartbreak After Lymphoma Diagnosis
Keira Morrison, a 30-year-old woman from Liverpool, is grappling with a devastating lymphoma diagnosis that threatens to disrupt her upcoming wedding. Just months away from her marriage to Liam Bridgeman, 33, Keira’s family is now preparing for what they describe as the worst possible outcome.
Keira first noticed troubling symptoms over a year ago, including a lump on her neck and leg pain. Drinking alcohol caused her face to swell, prompting her to seek medical attention. Despite repeated visits to doctors, her concerns were initially dismissed as high blood pressure. It wasn’t until she consulted a different doctor before Christmas that her situation was escalated, leading to a scan and a referral to a specialist.
Diagnosis and Treatment Journey
On February 10, 2024, Keira received the alarming diagnosis confirming she has lymphoma, a type of blood cancer. She described the moment as life-altering, saying: “I felt as if I was finally going to get my happily ever after because I was supposed to be getting married in June.”
At Aintree Hospital, specialists conducted an MRI, biopsy, and ultrasound, revealing multiple lumps in her neck. “At first, there were only two lumps, but I can feel up to eight now,” Keira noted. The specialist emphasized the urgency of her situation, recommending further scans to determine the cancer’s stage.
Keira’s health has deteriorated significantly; she has lost nearly two stone in just four weeks and is experiencing extreme fatigue, often sleeping for up to 20 hours a day. She attributes her discovery of the lump to her dog, Arlo, who consistently sniffed at her neck. “If it wasn’t for him, I might not have noticed it,” she explained.
Community Support and Awareness Campaign
Despite her struggles, Keira remains committed to her community. She and Liam have garnered over 30,000 followers on TikTok, where they regularly share their experiences and efforts to support others. Last Christmas, while feeling unwell, Keira helped deliver over 30 roast dinners to families in need, demonstrating her selflessness and resilience.
“I think the whole of Liverpool will get behind her because she’s just got a heart of gold who’d do anything for anyone,” Liam remarked.
Recognizing the impact of her diagnosis, Keira has taken to social media to raise awareness about lymphoma and its symptoms. She hopes her journey will encourage others to seek medical attention if they notice similar signs. “I’m so angry with the world right now that this has happened. If I can help others by raising awareness, I know that I possibly could have saved someone from going through what I’ve gone through,” she said.
Community members have rallied around Keira, with friends like Bekah Smith praising her continuous efforts to help others, often assisting those she has never met. In support of her medical journey, a GoFundMe page has been established to help with potential medical expenses.
As Keira and her family navigate this challenging time, they are determined to face the journey ahead with strength and unity, holding onto hope amidst uncertainty.
