Aldi Launches Urgent Winter Clothing Appeal Amid Storm Goretti
As Storm Goretti approaches the UK this week, bringing with it expected snowfall of up to 30cm and wind gusts reaching 90mph, Aldi has launched an urgent appeal for donations of warm clothing. In collaboration with the Salvation Army, the supermarket chain is encouraging shoppers to contribute essential winter items to help vulnerable members of the community.
The initiative allows customers to donate unwanted clothing such as coats, hats, scarves, and gloves using InPost lockers located at Aldi stores across the UK. To participate, donors must first register their items online at https://alditakeback.returns.international/ to generate a free postage label. Once the label is printed and affixed to a securely sealed package, donations can be dropped off at the nearest InPost locker.
Convenient Donation Process for Shoppers
Packages should not exceed dimensions of 41cm x 38cm x 64cm. After dropping off their donations, contributors will receive a notification confirming receipt of their items.
Luke Emery, National Sustainability Director at Aldi UK, emphasized the simplicity of the process, stating, “Whether it’s a warm coat you no longer need or an unwanted Christmas gift that could be put to good use, this is a simple way for shoppers to support people in their communities during the colder months.” The partnership with The Salvation Army aims to make a meaningful impact this winter.
The initiative is timely, as winter conditions can pose significant challenges for many individuals. Shaunacy Burne, Corporate Donation Manager at Salvation Army Trading Company, noted, “Items donated through this scheme will be sold to help fund essential support for people facing hardship. Access to warm clothing can make a real difference.”
Expanding Community Support Efforts
In addition to the current appeal, Aldi has a two-year partnership with the Salvation Army, aimed at enhancing the charity’s community support efforts across the UK. The collaboration has expanded Aldi’s relationship with InPost, with lockers now available in over 500 stores throughout England, Scotland, and Wales.
For those wishing to contribute, it is important to remember that donations cannot be accepted without a pre-printed label. More details about the donation process and locker locations can be found at https://alditakeback.returns.international/.
This initiative not only provides a convenient way for shoppers to support those in need but also reinforces Aldi’s commitment to community welfare during harsh winter conditions.
