Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor Exiled from Royal Lodge Amid Epstein Revelations

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has officially vacated Royal Lodge, following new allegations linked to his connections with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The former prince, who lived in the royal residence for 24 years, moved on the night of October 16, 2023. He is now residing at Wood Farm Cottage, located on the Sandringham Estate, while his permanent home, Marsh Farm, undergoes extensive renovations.

The renovations at Marsh Farm include increasing security measures, such as the installation of a CCTV system and six-foot wooden fences. Additionally, a no-fly zone around Sandringham has been extended to encompass Marsh Farm, highlighting the heightened scrutiny surrounding the former prince.

This relocation follows a series of controversies that led to King Charles III stripping Andrew of all his titles, styles, and honours just three months prior. Andrew’s long-standing association with Epstein and allegations of sexual assault against Virginia Giuffre, which he denies, have been central to the scrutiny he faces. Giuffre, who accused Andrew of assault when she was a teenager, tragically took her own life in April 2023, further intensifying the focus on Andrew’s past.

Recent disclosures have shed light on Andrew’s correspondence with Epstein, including an email from 2011 where he stated, “We are in this together,” just months after he claimed to have severed ties with Epstein. Compounding the situation, newly released files feature a photograph of Andrew appearing to lean over a woman on the floor, though the context of the image remains unclear.

In 2019, Andrew announced his withdrawal from public life and later settled a civil sexual assault claim with Giuffre for millions, despite denying ever having met her. His mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, previously ordered him to cease using his HRH style and removed his honorary military roles. In October 2022, Andrew agreed to stop using his title as the Duke of York, but King Charles took further action, officially making Andrew a commoner for the first time.

As part of this transition, Andrew has relinquished Royal Lodge, a 30-room mansion where he had paid a nominal “peppercorn” rent for many years.

Sarah Ferguson’s New Path

Meanwhile, Sarah Ferguson, Andrew’s ex-wife, is reportedly establishing her own living arrangements following Andrew’s move. Sources indicate that she will not be joining him at the Sandringham estate. Ferguson, who has supported Andrew throughout his controversies, is said to be seeking a new home, with options including her daughter Princess Eugenie‘s residence in Portugal or possibly a stay in the Cotswolds.

Ferguson has also faced criticism due to her past correspondence with Epstein, where she referred to him as a “supreme friend,” despite her public disavowal of him in the media. Emails released by the US Department of Justice included messages from Ferguson suggesting a personal and complex relationship with Epstein, further entangling the former duchess in the ongoing fallout from Andrew’s scandals.

As the situation continues to unfold, both Andrew and Ferguson are navigating significant changes in their personal and public lives, reflecting the profound impact of their past decisions on their current standings.
