Buducnost Bemaks Clinches 17th Cup Title with Dominant Win
The women’s basketball team Buducnost Bemaks secured their 17th Cup title on March 15, 2024, with a commanding victory over Sea Stars, winning the final match 108-61 in Bijelo Polje. This triumph marks another chapter in the club’s rich history, showcasing their dominance in the sport.
Buducnost Bemaks has been a formidable presence in women’s basketball for nearly two decades. Unlike previous years, where they faced rival teams from their own club, such as Lovcen and Trebjesa, this year they went head-to-head with Sea Stars. The match began with a surprising competitive edge, as Sea Stars held a brief lead in the first quarter, leading 12-11 in the sixth minute. However, Buducnost quickly regained control.
The team, coached by Petar Stojanovic, managed to overcome the absence of key players Jovana Savkovic and Atina Radevic. Despite a slow start, Buducnost’s aggressive defense and effective offensive strategies propelled them ahead. Following a 28-12 scoring run in the second quarter, they established a substantial lead, ending the half with a score of 54-24.
As the game progressed, Buducnost’s intensity on defense increased, resulting in a growing point differential. By the end of the third quarter, the lead had ballooned to 86-46, effectively sealing the game. The final quarter saw the inclusion of younger players, such as Radovic and Rackovic, who contributed to the team’s further success. Notably, Lola Rackovic, a member of the U15 team, scored the 100th point for her team in the 35th minute, bringing the score to 100-51.
The victory was celebrated with an awards ceremony where medals were presented by Vladimir Moracanin, the director of KK Jedinstvo, and Marko Maslovaric, director of the Center for Sports and Recreation in Bijelo Polje. The championship trophy was awarded to the captain of Buducnost, Zorana Radonjic, by Hasan Ramovic, a member of the Executive Board of KSCG.
In addition to the team accolades, individual performances were recognized. Ksenija Scepovic was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player, an honor presented by Zeljka Ratkovic, also a member of the Executive Board of KSCG. The top scorer of the tournament was Zutorija Kuk from Sea Stars, whose contributions were acknowledged by Budimir Vukic from the Competition Committee of KSCG.
Buducnost Bemaks’ latest Cup triumph not only reinforces their status as a powerhouse in women’s basketball but also sets a strong foundation as they prepare for upcoming challenges in the WABA league. The club’s commitment to integrating young talent into their roster indicates a promising future for the team.
