Montenegrin Diaspora Celebrates Tradition with Badnjak Ceremony
The Montenegrin diaspora gathered on December 24, 2023, in Lovćenac to celebrate the traditional lighting of the Badnjak. This annual event took place at the plateau in front of the Crnogorski kulturni centar, organized by the Udruženje Crnogoraca „Krstaš“.
In a dignified atmosphere, expatriates and their descendants expressed messages of love and devotion to their homeland, Crna Gora. The ceremony not only commemorated a cherished tradition but also reinforced the bonds between the diaspora and their roots.
The cultural program featured performances by young members of the Crnogorsko kulturno prosvjetno društvo „Princeza Ksenija“ from Lovćenac. These performances added to the celebratory spirit, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Montenegro.
Traditions like the lighting of the Badnjak serve as a powerful reminder of the community’s commitment to preserving their cultural identity, even while living abroad. The event drew a diverse audience, eager to participate in the festivities and connect with fellow Montenegrins.
As the flames of the Badnjak flickered, they symbolized not just the warmth of the holiday season but also the enduring connection to Montenegro. The ceremony in Lovćenac stands as a testament to the resilience and unity of the Montenegrin community worldwide.
