Plaque Unveiling Celebrates Milton Keynes Development Corporation

A plaque commemorating the achievements of the Milton Keynes Development Corporation (MKDC) will be unveiled on October 23, 2023, at 12:00 in the Fred Roche Gardens, located off Midsummer Boulevard. The event will celebrate the pivotal role MKDC played in shaping the city of Milton Keynes, which has become a vibrant community since its establishment.

The plaque, designed by local artist and designer Justin Tunley, features the original MKDC boundary and incorporates the iconic axehead logo at its center. Frank Henshaw, the last General Manager of MKDC, and Lee Shostak, who served as Chief Planner during the early days of MKDC, will take part in the unveiling ceremony. The event will also attract notable guests, including the Deputy Mayor, local Members of Parliament, Council Members, and several individuals who were instrumental in the development of Milton Keynes between 1967 and 1992.

The unveiling aims to honor the legacy of MKDC, which significantly contributed to the growth and identity of Milton Keynes over the decades.
