Prince Abdul Mateen Celebrates Second Anniversary with Touching Tribute
Prince Abdul Mateen of Brunei has commemorated his second wedding anniversary with a heartfelt tribute to his wife, Princess Anisha. The royal couple celebrated their union, which took place in a lavish ten-day wedding extravaganza in January 2024. The 32-year-old prince shared two candid photos on Instagram, showcasing the couple’s affection and marking a significant moment in their lives together.
The images depict the couple in an intimate embrace during a polo match, a sport in which Prince Abdul Mateen excels, and another of them enjoying a tranquil moment by a picturesque river. In a departure from the lengthy captions often seen on social media, the prince simply captioned the post with the number “2” and a heart emoji, encapsulating their love in a straightforward yet impactful manner.
Royal Celebrations and New Beginnings
This anniversary comes at a pivotal time for the couple, as they announced last October that they are expecting their first child. Settling in London, the couple frequently shares glimpses of their life together, from sunset outings at St James’ Palace to coordinating outfits at various events. Their journey together has resembled a modern fairytale, infused with luxury and royal charm.
The wedding celebrations in January 2024 were nothing short of extravagant. They began with the **Khatam Quran**, a significant occasion where Princess Anisha donned her first bridal look. The designer, Teh Firdaus, shared an image of her wearing a custom-made **baju kurung**, remarking on the elegance she displayed during this ceremony. Following this, the couple participated in the **Istiadat Berbedak**, a traditional blessing ceremony involving close family members. This ritual aims to bless the couple with prosperity and happiness in their married life.
Further ceremonies included solemnisation events held separately for men and women. The couple’s vows were exchanged at the **Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque** in Bandar Seri Begawan, with Prince Abdul Mateen showcasing his commitment to tradition alongside his father, **Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah**. The grand finale of the wedding festivities was a lavish banquet at the royal palace, attended by approximately **5,000 guests**, including esteemed dignitaries such as Bhutan’s King **Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck**, Indonesia’s President **Joko Widodo**, and the Philippines’ President **Ferdinand Marcos Jr.**
A Glimpse into a Royal Life
Brunei, one of the wealthiest nations globally, provided the backdrop for these opulent celebrations, which combined traditional and modern elements. The royal family’s significant financial resources allowed for an elaborate showcase that captivated not only Brunei but the international community as well.
As Prince Abdul Mateen and Princess Anisha reflect on their first two years of marriage, they look forward to welcoming their child into a life filled with love and celebration. The couple’s wedding album will undoubtedly serve as a cherished collection of memories as they embark on this new chapter together. Today, they celebrate their journey thus far and the promise of future happiness as they continue to captivate hearts around the world.
