Princess Anne’s Unconventional Christmas Card Surprises Fans
Princess Anne has taken a surprising approach with her 2025 Christmas card, choosing not to include her royal title, much to the astonishment of royal fans. The Governor of Queensland, Australia, shared the card on Instagram, showcasing a heartfelt message that reads, “With Best Wishes for a Happy and Peaceful Christmas and New Year.” The card features a simple signature: “from Anne and Tim,” referencing both Princess Anne and her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence.
The photograph accompanying the message captures the couple in a carriage during their visit to Sark in the Channel Islands in May 2025. This choice of imagery, along with the lack of formal titles, has sparked a range of reactions online. One user commented, “What? She didn’t sign it ‘The Princess Royal’? Of course not, she’s too classy for that.” Another added, “No need to blow the trumpet with the princess title and yet impactful. I like it!”
Fans have expressed admiration for Princess Anne’s understated style. One social media user remarked, “The Princess Royal doesn’t need anyone to pompously announce her arrival. On her 2025 Christmas card, she signs her name simply as ‘Anne.’” Another user praised her for “loyalty and work ethic,” highlighting her reputation as a dedicated member of the royal family.
Reactions to the Card and Royal Traditions
The Instagram post by the Governor of Queensland’s office also displayed Princess Anne’s royal monogram, featuring a coronet above the letter “A.” Known for her commitment to royal duties, Princess Anne has been recognized as one of the hardest-working members of the royal family, as indicated by the number of official engagements recorded in The Court Circular.
Interestingly, King Charles and Queen Camilla have also chosen not to sign their Christmas cards with royal titles. Their recent card, released a week prior, received mixed reviews, with some fans expressing disappointment over the lack of a traditional festive photograph. Instead, it featured a portrait captured by royal photographer Chris Jackson at Villa Wolkonsky in Rome, commemorating the couple’s 20th wedding anniversary.
This year’s Christmas cards from the royal family reflect a trend towards simplicity and personalization, resonating with fans who appreciate a more relatable approach. As the holiday season unfolds, both Princess Anne and the King and Queen continue to engage with their audience in ways that reflect their unique personalities and royal duties.
