Žabljak Municipality Approves €7 Million Budget for 2026
The Municipality of Žabljak has approved its budget for the year 2026, totaling just under €7 million. This decision was made during a session of the local parliament, which took place today in a constructive atmosphere following a brief delay. Local representatives discussed and adopted several resolutions that are crucial for the ongoing development of the municipality.
Ivan Popović, President of the Žabljak Municipal Assembly, highlighted that the approved budget is designed to be developmental, responsible, and investment-oriented, with clearly defined priorities. These priorities encompass key areas such as infrastructure, tourism, support for the economy, and the preservation of natural and cultural heritage.
The budget includes plans for various projects, such as the adaptation of city roadways, reconstruction of community homes, and improvements to the water supply and sewage systems. Additionally, there will be increased support for the Church Municipality of Žabljak, local businesses, and institutions. Popović emphasized that special attention will be given to strengthening social, sports, and cultural programs, as well as increasing the amount allocated for student scholarships.
Focus on Major Projects and Local Governance
According to Popović, capital projects are currently in the planning phase, with expectations for a high level of realization throughout the coming year. Alongside the budget approval, the assembly also adopted the Work Program for the Žabljak Municipal Assembly for 2026, which outlines the key directions for the local parliament’s activities in the upcoming period. This program aims to enhance the efficiency, transparency, and accountability of local government operations.
Popović expressed gratitude to the assembly members for their constructive discussions. He noted that, despite initial challenges, the assembly has demonstrated a commitment to serving the citizens and prioritizing the public interest. This proactive approach marks a significant step towards the sustainable development of Žabljak, positioning it as a community focused on both its economic growth and the welfare of its residents.
