Cape Town Woman Alleges Epstein Trafficking and Assault
A woman from Cape Town has come forward with allegations that she was trafficked by convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein when she was just 20 years old. Juliette Bryant, now 43, described a harrowing experience marked by abuse and psychological manipulation that began in 2002. Her story highlights a disturbing pattern of exploitation that spanned multiple continents.
Bryant claims she was approached during a university event for AIDS awareness, attended by former US president Bill Clinton and actors Kevin Spacey and Chris Tucker. This encounter led to her recruitment under the guise of a promising modeling opportunity. What initially seemed like a life-changing chance quickly devolved into years of entrapment and sexual abuse.
Journey from Cape Town to Epstein’s Island
Bryant’s first encounter with Epstein occurred at a restaurant in Cape Town. Shortly afterward, she boarded a flight to New York, her first trip outside South Africa. Upon arrival, she was immediately whisked away to the Caribbean. She recalls a driver dropping her off at Teterboro Airport in New Jersey, where she boarded a private jet alongside Epstein and two women who had initially recruited her.
“He patted the chair next to him… and then I went and sat there. It was such a confusing situation for a young person to be in,” she explained. As the flight took off, Epstein reportedly began to forcibly touch her, prompting a sense of panic. “I just freaked out and I suddenly realised – oh my God, my family aren’t going to see me again, these people might kill me,” she said, recalling the laughter of the women who accompanied Epstein.
Emails from Epstein’s flight logs reveal that unnamed female passengers traveled from Cape Town to various destinations, including London and Atlanta, as recently as 2018. While Bryant asserts she was never trafficked to other men, she alleges that Epstein repeatedly raped her during her time with him.
Allegations of Abuse at Epstein’s Properties
Upon arriving in the Caribbean, Bryant claims her passport was confiscated, and she was transported to Epstein’s private island via helicopter. “There was no way of getting away,” she stated. During her time on the island, she spent significant periods alone, punctuated only by meals and summons to Epstein’s room.
“I would see him at lunch, breakfast and dinner, and then I would be called to his room. Otherwise, I didn’t see a lot of him,” she recounted. To cope with the isolation, she took photographs with disposable cameras she found in the kitchen. The images depict a stark contrast between her smiles with other young women and the loneliness she felt.
After returning to Cape Town, Bryant continued to visit Epstein’s properties in New York, Palm Beach, Paris, and New Mexico. During these visits, she encountered other women and underage girls from countries such as Brazil, Romania, France, and Spain.
Bryant has expressed the lasting psychological impact of her experiences. The frequent reminders of Epstein through social media and news outlets often leave her feeling physically ill. “I look on Facebook, I see Epstein’s face. I look at the news, there it is again. There are times when it’s made me feel physically ill,” she remarked.
The release of additional documents by the US Department of Justice included emails sent by Bryant to Epstein, revealing her ongoing communication with him until 2017. She describes these exchanges as being influenced by her emotional state, noting, “Whenever I sent emails, it was always when I had been drinking or when I was having a bit of a breakdown.”
Bryant continues to grapple with her experiences, striving to comprehend the full extent of what she refers to as Epstein’s “dark machinery.” She is determined to pursue her psychological recovery while raising awareness about the abuse she endured.
