Unleash Secures $35M to Enhance AI Code Governance in Europe
Norwegian startup Unleash has successfully raised $35 million in a Series B funding round, led by London-based One Peak Partners. This funding, announced on March 4, 2026, brings the company’s total financing to $51.5 million. Unleash aims to strengthen its position in the rapidly evolving landscape of AI-generated code governance, as European enterprises increasingly invest in software solutions.
Based in Fornebu, Norway, Unleash markets an open-source feature management platform designed to provide developers with a safety net as AI-generated code becomes more prevalent. As the demand for rapid software deployments grows, the company argues that its tools are essential for maintaining stability and reliability in production systems. The latest funding comes at a time when the European software industry is witnessing a shift from early-stage optimism to sustained revenue growth.
FeatureOps Platform Addresses Governance Challenges
Unleash’s platform, known as “FeatureOps,” was developed by Chief Technology Officer Ivar Østhus. It is designed around feature flags—conditional switches that allow developers to enable or disable specific functionalities in real-time without redeploying entire applications. In a market increasingly dominated by AI coding tools, the ability to quickly revert a faulty feature has become critical for operational success.
Recent findings from Google’s DevOps Research and Assessment group highlight a concerning trend: according to the 2024 DORA report, for every 25% increase in AI adoption, software delivery stability decreased by 7.2%. Furthermore, the 2025 DORA report indicated that AI usage among software professionals had reached 90%, up from 76% in the previous year. These reports underscore the urgent need for effective governance in a landscape where AI does not resolve existing team issues but rather amplifies them.
“When AI-generated code is in production, and something breaks, you need the ability to diagnose, fix, and recover immediately,” said Chief Executive Egil Østhus. “The Unleash open-source FeatureOps platform gives you that control, and we’ve proven it works in the world’s most highly regulated industries.”
Growing Adoption and Competitive Landscape
Unleash has gained considerable traction, with its open-source platform amassing over 13,000 GitHub stars and more than 40 million downloads. The company reports over 500 paying customers, including major organizations like Prudential Financial, Lloyds Banking Group, Wayfair, and Lenovo. Since its $14 million Series A funding round in March 2022, Unleash has consistently doubled its annual recurring revenue.
The feature management landscape is competitive, with established players like LaunchDarkly, which has raised $330 million and is valued at $3 billion, and Harness, valued at $3.7 billion after raising $230 million. Smaller competitors such as Statsig and Split also vie for market share. Yet, Unleash differentiates itself through its open-source foundation, allowing enterprises to start with a free, self-hosted version before transitioning to the commercial platform without extensive reconfiguration.
The recent funding round reflects a broader trend in European enterprise software investments. One Peak Partners, which manages $4 billion in assets, typically invests between €15 million and €100 million in growth-stage companies. Existing investors, including Spark Capital, Frontline Ventures, and Firstminute Capital, have also participated in this round.
“We are having great momentum. This allows us to accelerate our go-to-market activities and take a bigger market share more quickly,” said Østhus, emphasizing the strategic timing of their fundraising.
Unleash’s ambition to address the governance gap created by AI-generated code presents a significant opportunity. With the DORA data supporting the need for effective management solutions, the question remains whether Unleash can leverage its funding effectively enough to compete with larger, more established platforms. As the reliance on AI-generated code increases, the demand for robust governance solutions is likely to grow, positioning Unleash as a potential leader in this emerging market.
