Arsenal Eyes Striker Transfers Following Kai Havertz Injury
Arsenal is re-evaluating its roster in the wake of news that forward Kai Havertz has sustained a knee injury. The severity of the injury remains uncertain, but the versatile German player is set to undergo further examinations. If Havertz faces an extended absence, it could significantly hinder Arsenal’s ambitions for a successful Premier League title challenge this season.
In response, the club is reportedly exploring options in the transfer market, with less than two weeks remaining before the transfer window closes on September 1, 2023. Arsenal is specifically looking for a striker to fill the gap left by Havertz, and several potential candidates have emerged.
Potential Targets for Arsenal
One option Arsenal may consider is
Another strong candidate is Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa. The England international has been linked with a move away from Villa Park, and Arsenal has long admired his abilities. Watkins’ Premier League experience makes him an appealing option, as he can also adapt to play in wider positions if necessary. Nonetheless, it remains uncertain whether Villa would allow his departure without securing a suitable replacement.
Alternative Options
Arsenal could also turn to Nicolas Jackson, who is currently at Chelsea. Jackson’s position has become precarious due to the club’s recent signings, which have pushed him down the pecking order. The former Villarreal player still possesses the talent to thrive at a top-level club, and a loan deal to Arsenal could be mutually beneficial, particularly if Havertz requires a lengthy recovery period.
A more unconventional option might be Ivan Toney, who has spent the past year playing in Saudi Arabia after leaving Brentford for Al-Ahli. Toney, having considerable experience in the Premier League, could provide valuable cover for Arsenal. Given that 2023 is a World Cup year, he may be inclined to return to the English top flight to enhance his chances of remaining in contention for international selection.
As the transfer window edges closer to its deadline, Arsenal’s management faces pressure to make strategic moves that will bolster their squad in the absence of Havertz. The coming days will be crucial in determining how Arsenal navigates this unforeseen challenge.
