In a thrilling NBA matchup, the Detroit Pistons edged past the Denver Nuggets with a final score of 124-121. The Pistons built a commanding lead during the second quarter of the game, outscoring Denver 37-23 to take a 19-point advantage into halftime, leading 69-50. Although Denver attempted a comeback, with Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray playing pivotal roles, they could not secure a victory.

Detroit’s performance was highlighted by Cade Cunningham, who scored 29 points along with 10 assists. His impressive first half included 17 points. Duncan Robinson contributed 20 points, while Jalen Duren added a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Despite leading the game, Denver found themselves in a tight spot as the clock wound down.

“We fought hard, but we just couldn’t get over the hump,”

said Murray, who finished the game with 32 points and 8 assists.

As the game neared its conclusion, Denver closed the gap to 112-110 after Murray converted a three-pointer. Following a Detroit miss, the Nuggets had a chance to tie the game but fell short. Denver’s last opportunity came with 5 seconds remaining when Murray hit one of two free throws, ultimately sealing the win for Detroit.

With this victory, the Pistons improved their record to 37 wins and 12 losses, placing them first in the Eastern Conference. Denver now stands third in the Western Conference with a record of 33-18.

Oklahoma City continued its strong season by defeating the Orlando Magic 128-92. The defending champions showcased their dominance, marking their 40th win of the season with a remarkable record of 40-11. Isaiah Joe led the Thunder with 22 points, while Shai Gilgeous-Alexander added 20 points and 9 assists, extending his streak of games scoring at least 20 points to 121, just five short of Wilt Chamberlain’s record.

Rookie Chet Holmgren made an impact with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Isaiah Hartenstein recorded a triple-double for the first time in his career with 12 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. He became only the tenth player in Thunder history to achieve this feat.

Luka Doncic also shone, adding 24 points to help the Lakers climb to fifth in the Western Conference with a record of 30-19. Brooklyn, on the other hand, remains at the bottom of the Eastern Conference with a disappointing record of 13-36.

The Chicago Bulls faced defeat against the Milwaukee Bucks, losing 131-115 without Nikola Vucevic, who was traded to Boston. The Celtics triumphed over the Dallas Mavericks 110-100, with Jalen Brown making history as the first player under 20 to have three consecutive games scoring at least 30 points.
