Experience the Magic: 5 Ice Rinks to Skate in Leeds This Winter
As the festive season approaches, Leeds is set to embrace winter with a series of exciting ice skating opportunities. Five ice rinks will open across the city, inviting residents and visitors to glide and enjoy the holiday spirit. This year, Leeds aims to provide both popular and intimate experiences for skaters of all ages.
Ice Rinks to Visit
The first prominent location is at Millennium Square, which traditionally hosts a large ice rink surrounded by festive lights and market stalls. This year, the rink will be open from November 20, 2025, until January 8, 2026, offering a picturesque setting for families and friends to skate together.
Another exciting venue is the Civic Hall, where a smaller, more intimate rink will welcome skaters. This setting is designed for those looking for a cozy atmosphere, perfect for couples or small groups. The rink here will also operate during the same festive period, adding to the diverse skating options available in Leeds.
A Community Celebration
In addition to these main attractions, City Park will feature a pop-up ice rink, allowing skaters to enjoy the outdoor winter ambiance. This initiative, organized by Leeds City Council, aims to promote community engagement and celebrate the holiday season. The rink will be operational from December 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025.
Furthermore, The Light, a popular shopping destination, will also host an ice rink. This location is perfect for those who want to combine shopping with skating, making it an ideal stop for festive shoppers. The rink will be available from November 25, 2025, until January 5, 2026.
For those new to ice skating or looking to improve their skills, several of the rinks will offer lessons and skating sessions led by experienced instructors. These programs will cater to all age groups, ensuring that everyone can partake in this thrilling winter activity.
With the combination of vibrant locations and festive cheer, ice skating in Leeds promises to be an enjoyable experience for all. The city’s efforts to create a welcoming atmosphere during the holiday season reflect a commitment to community spirit and celebration. Whether you are a seasoned skater or a curious beginner, Leeds invites you to lace up your skates and join in the winter festivities.
