Co-owner of Manchester United, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, expressed his commitment to giving head coach Ruben Amorim ample time to improve the team’s performance. He referenced Mikel Arteta, who faced criticism during his early years at Arsenal but eventually turned the club’s fortunes around. Ratcliffe stated, “Ruben needs to demonstrate he is a great coach over three years. That’s where I would be, three years, because football is not overnight.”

As Amorim marked his 50th match in charge of Manchester United with a 2-0 victory recently, questions about his effectiveness continue to surface. His current win rate of 40% is the lowest for any permanent United manager since Frank O’Farrell in the 1970s. This record has fueled calls from some supporters for his dismissal.

Despite the pressure, Ratcliffe emphasized the importance of avoiding “knee-jerk” reactions to the team’s performance. He criticized the media’s expectations for immediate success, saying, “You can’t run a club like Manchester United on knee jerk reactions to some journalist who goes off on one every week.” His comments suggest a desire to establish a more stable and long-term vision for the club.
