West Berkshire Seeks New Dog Warden Amid Increasing Challenges

West Berkshire is actively seeking a new dog warden following the resignation of its current animal warden. The Public Protection Partnership, which oversees the dog warden service, has reported challenges in managing stray dogs, particularly due to a shortage of available kennelling facilities. Of these, 56 dogs were successfully returned to their owners, while 73 dogs were rehomed from the pound. Notably, 43 dogs were found without microchips, highlighting an area of concern regarding pet identification in the region. The most frequently found breed by the team was Lurchers, underscoring the importance of targeted efforts in addressing stray dog populations.
