Budućnost Seeks Redemption Against Zagreb After Partizan Loss
The women’s basketball team of Budućnost Bemaks faces a critical match against Zagreb on March 15, 2024, following a disappointing defeat to Partizan. This match represents a vital opportunity for Budućnost to maintain their hopes of finishing first in the WABA League as they strive for a strong finish to the season.
After their loss to Partizan, the Podgorica team traveled to Zagreb in hopes of securing a much-needed victory. With only three matches remaining in the regular season, Budućnost understands that winning all of their upcoming games is essential to clinch the top position. The team’s strong performance in previous encounters against competitors gives them confidence as they prepare for this challenge.
Marija Baošić, the playmaker for Budućnost, emphasized the urgency of the situation. “We have very little time, but since returning from Belgrade, we have focused on preparing for this duel. We know that playing in Zagreb is always tough, and we are taking this match very seriously,” she stated. The team recognizes that while they had some strong moments against Partizan, their mistakes need to be minimized to ensure a better outcome against Zagreb.
Zagreb, despite being positioned lower in the league standings, has strengthened their roster with recent additions, including the return of Marta Ostojić. “Zagreb has become much stronger and has a significantly better roster than in the first half of the season. Their home-court advantage makes them a formidable opponent,” Baošić noted, indicating that Budućnost must not underestimate their rivals.
As the season nears its conclusion, every match becomes increasingly significant. Budućnost is determined to bounce back from their recent setback and is focused solely on the upcoming game. “We need to react after the loss in Belgrade and be prepared for 40 minutes of high energy. Achieving victory in this match would mean a lot to us,” Baošić added.
The match between Zagreb and Budućnost Bemaks is set to begin at 16:30 local time and is crucial for both teams’ aspirations in the league. A win for Budućnost could solidify their chances of finishing at the top, while a loss could complicate their path to the playoffs.
