Xochitl Hinojosa, a senior strategist at CNN, highlighted the disparity between Patel’s celebratory presence and pressing national security concerns, including a threat at the president’s Mar-a-Lago residence and ongoing cartel violence against Americans in Mexico. Hinojosa’s comments reflect a growing sentiment that Patel’s priorities may not align with pressing national issues.

Federal ethics rules require a clear distinction between official and personal travel. If any part of the trip is deemed personal, officials must disclose information about non-official passengers.
