Man Pleads Guilty to Arson and Terrorism Linked to McGregor’s Pub
A man has pleaded guilty to multiple charges related to arson and terrorist activities, including an incident involving the pub owned by mixed martial arts fighter Conor McGregor. Abdullah Khan, 24, admitted to all eight charges against him, stemming from attacks that took place in Dublin during July 2025.
On July 25, 2025, Khan was recorded on CCTV setting fire to the Black Forge Inn, located on Drimnagh Road in Dublin 12. The charge specified that he damaged the property by fire without lawful excuse. Just days later, on July 29, he confronted police officers, known locally as gardai, wielding a knife. This incident resulted in additional charges of assault and endangerment against two gardai, whom he allegedly threatened with the weapon.
Khan faced a total of eight charges, including two counts of engaging in terrorist-linked activities. He acknowledged his guilt during proceedings at the Special Criminal Court in Dublin. The court heard from Khan’s defence counsel, Michael Bowman SC, who indicated a complex psychological background associated with the case. Bowman requested that the court order a psychological evaluation of Khan.
Ms Justice Karen O’Connor, presiding over the case, adjourned further proceedings to allow for victim impact statements. The next court date is scheduled for March 23, with Khan remaining in custody until then.
The incidents have drawn significant attention due to the involvement of a high-profile public figure like McGregor, raising concerns about security and the implications of such violent acts within communities. As the case progresses, the focus will shift towards understanding the motivations behind Khan’s actions and their broader societal impact.
