Tragic Collision Claims Life of Teenage Pedestrian in Dublin
A teenage girl has tragically lost her life following a collision with a scrambler motorbike in Dublin. The incident occurred on September 24, 2023, at approximately 14:20 on the Ratoath Road in Finglas. According to the Garda Síochána, the girl, who was a pedestrian, was transported to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown but succumbed to her injuries shortly thereafter.
In connection with the incident, a teenage boy has been arrested. He is currently being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a Garda station in Dublin. Meanwhile, two other teenagers who were riding the scrambler motorbike received treatment for injuries that were described as non-life-threatening. One of these individuals is noted to be an adult male in his late teens, while the other is a male juvenile.
Investigation and Appeals for Witnesses
Gardaí have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision. Forensic investigators have already examined the scene, and the road has since been reopened to traffic. Authorities are appealing for information from the public, particularly from anyone who may have witnessed the accident. They are especially interested in obtaining any camera footage taken in the area between 14:10 and 14:40 on the day of the incident.
As the investigation continues, Garda Síochána is urging anyone with relevant information to come forward. This tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the risks associated with road safety, especially for vulnerable pedestrians.
