Two men are recovering in hospital following a knife fight outside a flat in Leicester’s West End. The incident occurred at approximately 10:30 on January 17, 2024, near the junction of Upperton Road and Narborough Road. Emergency services, including the Leicestershire Police and East Midlands Ambulance Service, responded to the scene shortly after receiving reports of the altercation.

Upon arrival, officers discovered both men with injuries believed to have been inflicted by a knife. One individual sustained a minor cut to his face, while the second suffered more serious injuries to his face and one ear. Both were promptly transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Police Investigation Underway

A police spokesperson confirmed that two men have been arrested in connection with the incident. A 20-year-old man faces charges of grievous bodily harm and affray, while a 19-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of affray. The police are currently working to establish the circumstances surrounding the fight, which included both outdoor and indoor elements.

At the scene, a section of the pavement along Upperton Road and a small car park were cordoned off as forensic officers conducted their investigation. Witnesses reported hearing loud noises prior to the police arrival, with one local business owner recalling, “We heard sounds of loud footsteps earlier. Then we saw the ambulance arrive and lots of police cars, too.”

Community Reactions

Mohammed Isarar, who operates PK Carpets on Upperton Road, expressed concern about the incident. “I went out to do a measuring at about 10:30 and returned an hour later to see police everywhere,” he said. “It is concerning.”

Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the incident to come forward. Those who have not yet spoken to police are encouraged to call 101, referencing crime reference number 26*31700. As investigations continue, a cordon remains in place at the location to secure the area.
