While the reputation of Milwaukee tools has been built on durability and high performance since the 1920s, the longevity of their batteries can vary significantly based on user habits and storage conditions.

Milwaukee batteries are popular among both DIY enthusiasts and professionals due to their extended runtime and reliability. However, the lifespan of these lithium-ion batteries can be affected by several factors. Users often report different experiences, with some batteries lasting much longer than others. Common mistakes, such as fully discharging the battery, leaving it on the charger overnight, or storing it near heat sources, can lead to premature degradation.

Other physical signs, such as overheating during charging or noticeable swelling, also suggest the battery is nearing the end of its life.
Fortunately, adopting proper care habits can significantly extend the lifespan of Milwaukee batteries. Storing them in a cool, dry environment with stable temperatures is a fundamental practice. Charging habits also play a crucial role. After using a cordless drill, allowing the battery to cool for approximately one hour before charging can help preserve its health. It is advisable to avoid discharging batteries all the way to zero, as deep discharges place additional stress on the cells. For those not planning to use a battery for an extended period, ensuring it is at least halfway charged can also help maintain its performance.
