The Assembly of the Žabljak Municipality has approved a budget of just under €7 million for the year 2026. The session, which took place today, began and concluded in a constructive atmosphere following a brief delay. During the meeting, council members reviewed and adopted several important decisions aimed at fostering the further development of the municipality.
Ivan Popović, President of the Assembly, described the approved budget as developmental, responsible, and investment-oriented. He noted that it clearly outlines priorities in several areas, including infrastructure, tourism, economic support, and the preservation of natural and cultural heritage.
Included in the budget are plans for various projects, such as the adaptation of city roadways, reconstruction of community homes, and upgrades to the water supply and sewage systems. Additionally, there will be increased support for the Church of Žabljak, local businesses, and institutions.
Popović emphasized that special attention will be given to enhancing social, sports, and cultural programs, as well as increasing the amount allocated for student scholarships. He stated that significant capital projects are currently in the planning stages, with expectations for high levels of implementation throughout the upcoming year.
Focus on Efficiency and Transparency
In addition to the budget, the Assembly also adopted its Work Program for 2026, which defines key directions for the local parliament’s activities in the upcoming period. The program places a strong emphasis on improving efficiency, transparency, and accountability within local governance.
Popović expressed his gratitude to the council members for their constructive discussions. He highlighted that, despite initial challenges, the Assembly has demonstrated its responsibility towards the citizens, prioritizing the public interest.
As Žabljak prepares for the upcoming year, the approved budget and work program signal a commitment to advancing the municipality’s development goals while ensuring the welfare of its residents.
