Congresswoman Greene Critiques US Policies on Cartels and Foreign Wars

Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has publicly condemned the hypocrisy she perceives in US foreign and domestic policies regarding drug trafficking and military interventions. In a statement released on X on Saturday, Greene expressed her concerns following three years of service on the Homeland Security Committee, during which she has strongly advocated for enhanced border security.

Greene highlighted the staggering impact of fentanyl on American society, noting that it is responsible for over 70% of drug overdose deaths in the United States. She stated, “Fentanyl comes from Mexican cartels made with chemical precursors from China and trafficked across the US-Mexico border.” The Congresswoman argued that Mexican cartels play a crucial role in the ongoing drug crisis, asserting they are “primarily and overwhelmingly responsible for killing Americans with deadly drugs.”

Criticism of Foreign Policy Priorities

Questioning the current administration’s foreign policy priorities, Greene raised concerns about US military actions in Venezuela. She asked why significant military efforts have targeted Venezuela instead of focusing on combating the cartels along the southern border. “If US military action and regime change in Venezuela was really about saving American lives from deadly drugs, then why hasn’t the Trump administration taken action against Mexican cartels?” she queried.

Greene also expressed discontent regarding the Trump administration’s decision to pardon former Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez, who was convicted for drug trafficking. She stated, “Why did President Trump pardon the former Honduran President who was convicted and sentenced for 45 years for trafficking hundreds of tons of cocaine into America?”

Additionally, Greene accused the US government of pursuing regime change in Venezuela for ulterior motives, specifically regarding access to oil. “By removing Nicolas Maduro, this is a clear move for control over Venezuelan oil supplies that will ensure stability for the next obvious regime change war in Iran,” she claimed.

Concerns Over Global Double Standards

The congresswoman also addressed perceived double standards in international conflicts. She questioned the moral justification of US military actions, asking, “Why is it okay for America to militarily invade, bomb, and arrest a foreign leader, but Russia is evil for invading Ukraine and China is bad for aggression against Taiwan?” Greene added, “Is it only okay if we do it? (I’m not endorsing Russia or China).”

Greene noted that public frustration is growing, especially as living costs increase while taxpayer funds are diverted to foreign interests. She remarked, “Regime change, funding foreign wars, and American tax dollars being consistently funneled to foreign causes… while Americans are consistently facing increasing cost of living, housing, healthcare… is what has most Americans enraged.”

In her conclusion, Greene emphasized that younger generations are increasingly rejecting what she termed “never-ending military aggression.” She expressed concern that neither major US political party currently offers effective solutions aimed at fostering domestic economic prosperity.
