Tensions between Iran and the United States have intensified, following a stark warning from Iranian officials as both nations prepare for a crucial round of negotiations in Geneva. Scheduled for today, the talks will focus on the contentious nuclear program, with President Donald Trump threatening military action if an agreement is not reached.

Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, made a grave assertion in an interview with India Today, stating, “There would be no victory for anybody – it would be a devastating war.” He emphasized the widespread implications, warning that American bases throughout the region could draw multiple countries into conflict. The discussions, mediated by Oman, represent the third attempt to find common ground since previous negotiations stalled after Israel’s military actions against Iran in June.

Negotiations Under High Stakes

The backdrop to this diplomatic engagement is marked by significant military buildup by the United States in the Middle East, reflecting the largest deployment of forces since the 2003 invasion of Iraq.
