A woman in her 20s has tragically lost her life following a serious crash on the M2 motorway in Kent, England, on Christmas Eve. The incident occurred shortly before 13:00 local time, prompting an immediate response from emergency services.

The accident took place between Junction 5 for Sittingbourne and Junction 4 for Rainham. According to Kent Police, a black Volkswagen T-Roc collided with the central reservation before flipping over. Authorities confirmed that the driver, a young woman from Faversham, was pronounced dead at the scene. Fortunately, there were no other passengers in the vehicle, and no other vehicles were involved in the incident.

Emergency Response and Investigation

Emergency crews, including Kent Police, Kent Fire and Rescue Service, and National Highways Traffic Officers, quickly arrived at the scene to manage the situation. The London-bound carriageway was closed between Junctions 5 and 4 to facilitate initial investigations, which were conducted by the Serious Collision Investigation Unit.

A spokesperson for Kent Police stated that they are seeking witnesses to the crash. Motorists with dashcam footage of the incident are encouraged to come forward. “Witnesses, including motorists with dashcam footage, are being urged to come forward following a fatal collision on the M2,” the spokesperson said.

The police appeal highlighted that the incident occurred near the Medway services around 12:50 on December 24. They are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who may have seen the vehicle before the accident.
