Saudi National Arrested with Fake Driving License at Border
Authorities apprehended a Saudi Arabian national at the Kula border crossing for presenting a counterfeit driving license. The arrest occurred on January 24, 2026, during a routine border check, highlighting ongoing efforts to maintain security and prevent the use of fraudulent documents.
At approximately 17:00, officials from the Border Police checked M.H.A. (43) and discovered that his international driver’s license, which claimed to be issued in Saudi Arabia, raised suspicions regarding its authenticity. Collaboration with Frontex confirmed that the document was indeed forged. Subsequent investigations suggested that M.H.A. likely purchased the counterfeit license in his home country. He was subsequently detained and is facing charges of document forgery, with a criminal report filed for prosecution at the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Rožaje.
Earlier the same day, at the Dobrakovo border crossing, police seized a stolen vehicle, a BMW X6, registered in Montenegro. The car was flagged by Interpol Germany, indicating that it had been reported stolen. The vehicle, driven by T.S. (52), a Montenegrin citizen, was taken into custody and is now under the care of the Safety Department in Bijelo Polje for further processing.
The events underscore the vigilance of the Border Police Regional Centre “North” in monitoring cross-border activities. By employing advanced border control applications, officials successfully identified both the stolen vehicle and the fraudulent driving license, reinforcing their commitment to uphold the law and enhance regional security measures.
These incidents reflect a broader trend of increasing scrutiny at international borders, as authorities work to combat crime and ensure that travelers possess valid documentation. The cooperation between Montenegro’s police and international organizations like Interpol and Frontex has proven essential in addressing these challenges.
