Lidl Expands in London with 19 New Stores and 640 Jobs
Lidl has announced an ambitious expansion plan that includes the opening of 19 new stores in England over the next two months, creating approximately 640 jobs. This move is part of a larger strategy involving an investment of around £40 million to enhance its presence in the United Kingdom, where it has become the sixth largest grocery chain.
The expansion is particularly focused on London, where Lidl aims to strengthen its market position. The company also revealed plans to refurbish more than 70 existing stores, which will feature larger freezers and updated checkout systems. By the end of February 2024, Lidl targets to open an additional 40 stores across the country.
