Trump Plans to Reduce Meeting Attendance in 2026, Claims Health is ‘Perfect’
President Donald Trump has announced a plan to decrease his attendance at meetings throughout 2026, despite asserting that his health is in “perfect” condition. This announcement comes as scrutiny of his physical and mental stamina intensifies, particularly following reports of him dozing off during crucial briefings.
In a recent phone interview with the Wall Street Journal, Trump expressed his intention to focus on high-priority meetings that require his direct involvement, stating that much of his time is wasted on bureaucratic formalities. He emphasized that this change is aimed at enhancing executive efficiency rather than a sign of declining health. “Let’s talk about health again for the 25th time,” he remarked, reinforcing his stance that he is fit for his role.
Critics have raised concerns regarding Trump’s age and the physical demands of the presidency. At 79 years old, some see the reduction in his public schedule as an indication of the toll the office is taking on him. Trump has responded to these allegations by sharing details about his sleep habits, claiming he typically functions well on only four hours of sleep and often communicates with aides at all hours, including late-night texts and calls.
In previous statements, Dr. Ronny Jackson, Trump’s former physician, supported this claim, asserting that the President does not require extensive sleep. Staff members have noted that Trump’s energetic presence often extends into the early morning, with reports from CNN correspondent Kaitlan Collins indicating that some aides are hesitant to travel with him due to his late-night activity.
The narrative surrounding Trump’s alleged fatigue, dubbed “Dozy Don” by critics, has gained traction due to instances where he appeared to nod off during meetings. In one notable occurrence, he reportedly slept for 20 minutes in the Oval Office while national security matters were discussed. However, Trump defended himself, stating that he merely closed his eyes, describing it as “very relaxing.”
In another meeting focused on a significant aid package for U.S. farmers, Trump abruptly awoke and contributed to the discussion as though he had been attentive the entire time. “Sometimes they’ll take a picture of me blinking and they’ll catch me with the blink,” he explained, attempting to downplay the incidents of apparent fatigue.
Despite ongoing speculation about his health and energy levels, the Trump administration maintains that he is in excellent health and capable of fulfilling the responsibilities of his office. The shift in his meeting schedule suggests a strategic approach to manage his energy and focus on the critical issues facing his administration as it approaches the upcoming election year.
As 2026 approaches, Trump’s decisions will likely shape not only his presidency but also the political landscape, particularly as he continues to navigate the complexities of governance while addressing concerns regarding his health and stamina.
