Bingo Group Spreads Holiday Joy with Donations to Care Homes
A local bingo group brought festive joy to care home residents in Newbury by donating 37 Christmas parcels. On December 16, members of Cindy and Caroline’s Bingo Group, based at The Club on Cheap Street, delivered gifts to residents at Willows Edge Care Home. This initiative, which included a special basket of treats for the staff, highlights the group’s commitment to spreading holiday cheer within the community.
The gifts, intended for 23 women and 14 men living at the care home, included a variety of items such as watches, necklace sets, brooches, keyrings, toiletries, paperweights, playing cards, and puzzles. The presence of local dignitaries, including Councillor Billy Drummond and Mayor David Harman, underscored the significance of the occasion as they assisted with the delivery.
This donation is part of a broader effort by the bingo group to give back during the Christmas season. Just the week prior, they had made a similar contribution to Audrey Needham House. The impact of these gifts resonated deeply with residents and staff alike, as expressed by a spokesperson from Audrey Needham House.
“On behalf of all the residents and staff at Audrey Needham House, we would like to express our heartfelt thanks for the wonderful Christmas gifts you so kindly delivered,”
the spokesperson stated. They continued, noting that the group’s generosity brought immense joy to their community, saying, “Your kindness helped make the festive season brighter for everyone here, and we are truly grateful for the thought and care behind each gift.”
The efforts of Cindy and Caroline’s Bingo Group serve as a reminder of the importance of community support, especially during the holiday season. Their actions not only provide tangible gifts but also foster a sense of belonging and connection among care home residents who may feel isolated at this time of year. By reaching out to those in need, the group exemplifies the spirit of giving and compassion that is so vital during the festive period.
As the holiday season continues, such gestures of kindness can significantly uplift spirits and strengthen community ties, making a lasting difference in the lives of those they touch.
