Care Home Staff Member Skydives to Fund Activities for Residents
A staff member at Broadmead Rest Home in Woolten Hill has successfully completed a tandem skydive from 10,000 feet, raising significant funds for the care home’s residents. Kris White, who serves as the head of activities and wellbeing, undertook this daring challenge to support enhancements in resident activities and acquire new equipment aimed at improving their quality of life.
White joined the team at Broadmead Rest Home in August 2023 and has swiftly made an impact with his commitment to fundraising initiatives. The care home, located in North Hampshire, expressed gratitude for his efforts to secure additional resources that would bring “comfort and joy” to its residents. The skydive, organized in collaboration with GoSkydive in Salisbury, was generously donated at the end of the season to maximize the fundraising potential.
The initiative has proven to be successful, with the charity skydive currently raising £2,500. This amount has been collected through contributions from friends, family members, fellow staff, and local businesses, demonstrating strong community support for the care home and its residents.
Community Engagement and Future Plans
The funds raised through this skydive will directly support meaningful activities and the procurement of equipment that enhances the residents’ experiences at Broadmead. White’s engagement reflects a broader commitment from the care home to foster an environment filled with joy and purposeful activities, addressing both physical and emotional wellbeing.
The success of this fundraising effort highlights the importance of community involvement in supporting care facilities. As the need for resources continues to grow, initiatives like White’s skydive are vital in ensuring that residents can enjoy a range of activities that enrich their lives.
Broadmead Rest Home encourages ongoing community support and participation in future fundraising events, emphasizing that every contribution can make a significant difference in the lives of its residents. White’s inspiring leap not only showcases his dedication but also serves as a call to action for others to engage in similar initiatives that benefit those in care.
