Farnham’s Headway House Plans to Transform into Care Home

Plans are underway to convert the temporary facilities of Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care at Headway House in Farnham into a care home, pending approval. The hospice’s administrative staff and counselling services have occupied Headway House for the past two years while the main hospice site on Waverley Lane has undergone extensive reconstruction to accommodate a growing demand for its services.

The hospice anticipates relocating to the newly completed building within the next month. In line with this transition, proposals have been submitted to Waverley Council to demolish Headway House and construct a care home featuring 66 bedrooms, along with necessary parking, landscaping, and additional buildings. The care home would be operated by LNT Care Developments.

This new project represents a shift from previous plans that were approved for McCarthy Stone to construct retirement apartments on the same site. The change reflects a growing need for dedicated care facilities in the area.
