Sinners Breaks Records with 16 Nominations for the Oscars 2026
The nominations for the 2026 Academy Awards have been announced, with the film Sinners leading the pack with a historic total of 16 nominations. This marks the most nominations for any film in Oscar history. The ceremony will take place on March 15, 2026, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, and will be hosted by the popular television presenter Conan O’Brien, who received acclaim for his opening monologue at last year’s event.
Reading the nominations was actress Danielle Brooks from Orange is the New Black and actor Lewis Pullman, known for his role in Thunderbolts. The Academy is looking to continue the momentum established last year by Anora, which won major awards including Best Picture, Best Actress, and Best Director for its compelling narrative about a stripper marrying the son of an oligarch.

With its impressive nomination tally, the film aims to surpass the current record of 11 wins, held by classic titles such as Ben-Hur (1959), Titanic (1997), and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003).
The full list of nominations includes categories ranging from Best Picture to Best Cinematography, with Sinners nominated in the following categories:
