Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor Exiled from Royal Lodge Amid New Epstein Claims

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has officially vacated Royal Lodge, his residence for over two decades, following renewed scrutiny over his connections to Jeffrey Epstein. The former prince moved to Wood Farm Cottage on the Sandringham Estate on October 23, 2023, as his permanent home, Marsh Farm, undergoes renovations. Reports indicate that security measures at Marsh Farm are being significantly enhanced, including the installation of a CCTV system and six-foot wooden fences. Additionally, a no-fly zone around Sandringham has been expanded to protect the property.

This development comes just three months after King Charles III stripped his younger brother of all titles, styles, and honors due to a series of scandals. Andrew has faced ongoing controversy related to his friendship with the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. He has consistently denied allegations of sexual assault against Virginia Giuffre, who claimed that she was trafficked by Epstein and assaulted by Andrew when she was a teenager. The situation intensified following Ms. Giuffre’s tragic death by suicide in April 2023 and the release of documents related to Epstein’s case.

Recent disclosures have revealed that Andrew corresponded with Epstein in 2011, stating, “We are in this together,” just months after claiming to have severed ties with him. Furthermore, newly released images show Andrew leaning over a woman lying on the floor, though the context and timing of the photo remain unclear.

In 2019, Andrew stepped back from public duties and later settled a civil sexual assault case with Ms. Giuffre for an undisclosed sum. Despite his claims of never having met her, a photograph surfaced showing him with his arm around her at the home of Ghislaine Maxwell, a known associate of Epstein. In 2022, Queen Elizabeth II instructed him to cease using his HRH style and removed his honorary military roles. In October 2022, Andrew agreed to relinquish his Duke of York title, but King Charles III subsequently removed his princely title altogether, rendering him a commoner.

As part of this transition, Andrew has relocated from the 30-room Royal Lodge, where he had been paying a nominal rent for many years. His ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, who lived with him at Royal Lodge, has made her own living arrangements and will not join him at Sandringham. A source revealed that she is ready to “spread her wings” and is exploring housing options, including potentially staying with their daughter Eugenie in Portugal.

Sarah Ferguson has also faced criticism for her past correspondence with Epstein, in which she referred to him as a “supreme friend” despite publicly disavowing him. Emails released by the U.S. Department of Justice included remarks about her daughters, further complicating her public image.

The ongoing fallout from Andrew’s association with Epstein continues to attract media attention and public scrutiny, marking a significant shift in the former prince’s status within the royal family and broader society.
