Andrew Moves from Royal Lodge to Temporary Residence in Norfolk
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has relocated from his residence at Royal Lodge in Windsor to a temporary accommodation on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk. The move, reported by the BBC, occurred on the night of October 23, 2023, and comes as he awaits renovations to his new home, believed to be Marsh Farm.
This transition follows significant upheaval for Mountbatten-Windsor, who lost his royal titles earlier this year due to ongoing allegations related to the Jeffrey Epstein scandal. For nearly two decades, he resided in the 30-room mansion at Royal Lodge, where he paid a symbolic rent in exchange for funding approximately £8 million in renovations.
Ongoing Allegations and Police Investigation
The move coincides with a police assessment of allegations involving a woman reportedly sent to the UK in 2010 for a sexual encounter with Mountbatten-Windsor. Lawyers representing the unnamed woman have urged King Charles III to engage with them regarding their client’s claims.
Brad Edwards, an attorney from the US firm Edwards Henderson, indicated that his client spent a night with Mountbatten-Windsor after a tour of Buckingham Palace. A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police stated, “We are aware of reports about a woman said to have been taken to an address in Windsor in 2010 for sexual purposes. We take any reports of sexual crimes extremely seriously and encourage anyone with information to come forward.” The spokesperson also noted that these allegations have not yet been reported formally to the police.
The allegations are part of a broader scrutiny surrounding Mountbatten-Windsor, particularly as documents released by the US Department of Justice on October 20, 2023, included references to him. These documents featured images suggesting inappropriate behavior, as well as statements made by Epstein introducing a woman described as “26, Russian, clever, beautiful, trustworthy.”
Financial Settlements and Past Accusations
Mountbatten-Windsor has consistently denied any wrongdoing. In 2022, he reportedly paid millions to Virginia Giuffre, a prominent accuser who claims she was trafficked by Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell when she was just 17. Despite his assertions of having never met Giuffre, the settlement underscored ongoing controversy surrounding his past associations.
Following the publication of Giuffre’s allegations, King Charles III stripped Mountbatten-Windsor of his royal titles, marking a significant shift in his public and private life. As he adjusts to his new temporary residence, scrutiny surrounding his past continues to intensify.
