Grzegorz Kędzierski, known as Greg to his colleagues, works as a commissioning engineer, ensuring that the electrical systems of wind turbines are safe and functional. His job requires him to climb high into the air, often using ladders to reach the tops of turbines that can exceed 150 meters in height. Once there, he checks each electrical connection and software system, essential for the turbines to operate efficiently and safely.

His journey has taken him from Poland to various locations across the globe, including the Mekong Delta in Vietnam and the icy waters of the North Sea. Kędzierski thrives in the offshore environment and enjoys the thrill of working in such dynamic conditions. “I don’t get seasick,” he asserts confidently.

Despite the challenges of working away from home, he finds solace in his passion for flying. After initially pursuing a career as a commercial pilot, he redirected his focus back to the wind industry due to the pandemic’s impact on aviation. Now, he enjoys flying acrobatic planes in his spare time, drawing parallels between the precision needed in both fields. “Safety and precision are critical in everything we do,” he remarks, highlighting the importance of meticulous planning in offshore operations.

As an offshore client representative, Chris Akehurst oversees the construction of massive wind turbine foundations. His role is pivotal in transforming plans into reality, requiring exceptional logistics and teamwork. “People don’t realize just how huge these turbines are,” he explains, noting that some can reach heights of 240 meters from sea to the tip of the blade.

Akehurst’s responsibilities include overseeing the placement of heavy steel piles and coordinating the efforts of a diverse team of professionals from around the world.
